Uttar Pradesh has topped in the list of the states providing housing to the rural poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) by scoring 85% in constructing houses against the national average of 34% during 2017-2018.
Uttar Pradesh has attained this rare distinction to capture the first spot in the construction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin) or PMAY-G in India by building more than 771,000 houses in a record period of nine months.

The Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board (Uttar Pradesh Awas Evam Vikas Parishad) has announced residential schemes in Lucknow, Meerut, Moradabad and Sultanpur under the Central government’s flagship Housing-for-All initiative.
The Uttar Pradesh Awas Evam Vikas Parishad (UPAVP) has planned to provide a roof over the head to urban poor at Rs. 450,000 each and has set a target of constructing over 5,000 flats in four cities in the state.
These dwelling units will be built in a cluster of four-storeyed (Ground Floor + 3 Floors) complexes that will have all basic civic amenities.
The registrations for these residential flats opened on March 20, 2017 and would continue until April 12, 2018.
