<p>There is no single treatment or therapy, which can cure Achilles tenosynovitis. A combination of therapies, medications, and treatments alleviate Achilles tenosynovitis pain and discomfort over a long period.</p>
<p>The common treatments and medications for Achilles tenosynovitis include:</p>
<p>1. Rest affected tendon. This brings immense relief. If pain is very acute, use a firm bandage or splint to keep tendon in place. This prevents even remote chances of injury.</p>
<p>2. Take simple anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen and paracetamol to relieve pain and inflammation. Local applications of certain creams and gels also relieve pain in affected region. Many people prefer these to the medications as gels and creams do not cause side effects. If Achilles tenosynovitis is due to infection, antibiotics provide relief.</p>
<p>3. Apply ice packs over affected region for twenty to thirty minutes two to three times each day. Such cold compress reduces pain and swelling. Wrap a pack of frozen peas with a cloth and use as a cold compress.</p>
<p>4. Seek medical advice and take steroid injections if advised. These injections relieve pain in the short term. However, they do not deliver adequate relief in the long term. Pain erupts soon after effect of injection wanes off.</p>
