Agnogenic Myeloid Metaplasia – Clinical Trials and Research Studies
Agnogenic myeloid metaplasia directly affects hematopoietic system of your body. Extramedullary hematopoiesis affects other body organs. The actual cause for Agnogenic Myeloid Metaplasia is still unclear. Bone marrow micro-vessel density is remarkably high in most people with AMM. Neoangiogenesis in Agnogenic myeloid metaplasia is present in medullary and extramedullary hematopoiesis. Neoangiogenesis indicates chronic myeloproliferative disorders. High level of serum vascular endothelial growth is the most important cause for increased angiogenesis.
Agnogenic Myeloid Metaplasia occurs predominantly due to neoplastic transformation of early hematopoietic stem cells. This is a chronic myeloproliferative disorder. Portal hypertension causes variceal bleeding or ascites and Hepatic or portal vein thrombosis. Splenic infarction causes acute pain in the left upper quadrant accompanied with fever, nausea, and discomfort in left shoulder. People with AMM could also develop various complications due to defects in humeral immunity. Presence of periostitis, osteosclerosis, and hypertrophic osteoarthropathy causes excessive pain and discomfort.
Extensive research has been done and is still ongoing to understand myelofibrosis better and detect new techniques to combat this disorder in order to help people live longer and healthier. Ruxolitinib is the first drug approved by U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat myelofibrosis. This drug functions as a JAK2 inhibitor. Research is on to detect if other drugs or combination therapies can improve bone marrow scarring. Low-dose radiation can control symptoms like spinal cord compression, gastrointestinal (GI) tract bleeding, seizures, and effusions.
